Do I need to learn Angular before learning Ionic?

It sure is advantageous to already have some knowledge about how angularJS works. However, if you’er familiar with the whole web-development (especially javascript) you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting used to working with angularJS.
Personally, i went through some tutorials on angular before i started with ionic.

I say try to learn the basics, I started with Ionic with no AngularJS knowledge, I managed to get my first app into Google Play, but after learning a bit of AngularJS for a project I saw there were a lot of things I could have done differently i.e. using services 
I say at least go through http://campus.codeschool.com/courses/shaping-up-with-angular-js/ you can do that in a couple of hours.
It’ll help you get the basics to get started.
