Modal tutorial?

I found the modals in Ionic 1 easy to work with.

I find them totally and completely baffling in Ionic 2.

Please can someone write a step by step (ELIF!) guide to them?

I’ve a very basic Ionic 2 tabs app (that I’ve managed to add an extra tab to!). I need a modal. It doesn’t need to take any data or do anything fancy - I just need to understand how to make a simple, basic modal.

I’ve googled this. No luck.

The more I learn about the new Ionic and Angular 2 the more i like it.
