I have just know polymer project.
Polymer is a ui framework project that implemented android material design stuff with html, css, js. It has lots of smart features, animation, component etc.
I wonder that somebody want to merge two ultimate ui framework (ionic and ploymer)? It would be very nice…
At least ionic has to be add some opening animation from this project.

We actually have been working with some on the Angular team on an Angular port of the paper components. Eventually we will get this into the Ionic distribution: https://github.com/angular/material
And as Polymer gets fleshed out and browser support improves (and Angular adds support for web components), we will absolutely be supporting it in Ionic.
