Ionic Capacitor failed iOS build

When trying to build an iOS app using Capacitor (Xcode 11.2) on a test device results in the following error:

Signing for “App” requires a development team. Select a development team in the Signing & Capabilities editor.

App signing is set to Automatic (build settings / signing) and I can only find team signing option under the Pods build targets (in all cases the development team target is set to a personal team).

Creating a blank XCode project builds fine - so this is likely something with the Pods / setup of Ionic Capacitor.

This issue is related to the signing certs that you have as an Apple developer. You can go to the apple developers site and generate a new certificate that you can use in your app. There is a good documentation you can find about that in the same page.
