Ionic 4 Android APK Expansion Files

What’s the recommended approach for Ionic 4 apps to use APK expansion files, for uploading an app that is larger than 100MB? There’s a rather old tutorial here:

Adding an android apk expansion file to a cordova project

Is this still valid for Ionic 4?
