How to cope with outdated Chrome and Android System WebView

I am developing an app with Ionic React and Capacitor. Screenshots in a Google pre-launch report and tests with the emulator in Android Studio showed that the UI is not correctly rendered on certain devices (API level 25, 26, 27). It seems like this is due to older Chrome and Android System WebView versions not supporting certain HTML/CSS.

I find it a bad user experience having to tell the customer to manually update Chrome and Android System WebView to the latest versions. Are there any common methods how to deal with this? Does Ionic or Capacitor provide anything to facilitate this?

Thank you very much.

If you can be more specific about what “certain” HTML/CSS you’re talking about, maybe people can suggest alternate ways of expressing it that are more widely supported.
