in ionic-starter-tabs and ionic-starter-sidemenu:
ion-nav-back-button shows properly in Firefox and Safari when you look at an individual playlist or friend. In Google Chrome it isn’t showing up - it has a class called “hide” attached to it. If the class is removed or its css is disabled then the back button shows up normally.
I posted it on the starter project git issue pages but it got closed and Peter C wrote:

I just launched the “side menu” starter. The back button is displaying properly in both Chrome & Canary.
Chrome : Version 33.0.1750.152
Canary : Version 36.0.1923.2 canary
I also had Chrome Version 33.0.1750.152
Since I’ve installed Canary it works in Canary and Chrome
I am on Chrome Version 34.0.1847.116 and it is not working.
Thanks,
FK
