I doubt the DOM manipulation is slow. Instead, I think the moment the DOM manipulation is ordered is not where we would expect it. Personally, I hadn’t noticed the problem. Well, I’ve checked. The codepen you provided works as expected in android 4.4.2 on Chrome 36.0.1985.135, which is the same version u mentioned. No issues at all over here… I’m not able to reproduce it seems… :frowning:

Unfortunately, the problem persists in various browsers, so I have decided it’s not just me. I’ll see if I can debug the JS that leads to .activated being added to buttons etc. to understand what makes it slow.

I’m very curious as to what the problem is… Hopefully someone else could shine some light on this as well!

I am having the same issue on a Nexus 5 (4.4.4), an iPad air (7.1.2) and even in the iOS simulator.

I have been searching for a solution to this, and have come across a few other people describing the same thing

This looks like it could be a solution, but I haven’t tested it yet.
