Show back button when link is tapped from side-menu

I’m new to ionic and need help

In my ionic app, the navigation-back-button shows when I click a link in the dashboard which is the behavior I want.
However, the navigation-back-button does not show when I click the link from the side-bar.

I have duplicated the issue in jsbin
