+1 Yeah, this is a bit irritating. Broke my release build as well. Seems like a bug in the ionic-cli?

This was/is a long standing issue in Cordova for Android: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-7827 Really a regression but the people involved in the project seemed to have better things to work on.
