Ionic 4: Page transition animations are not showing at all

I don’t know what’s going on, but NONE of the page animations in my Ionic 4 app are running.
It doesn’t matter if I navigateRoot, navigateBack, navigateForward.

It just changes the page with no animation at all.

Is this a config setting or something?

tabs are broken in ionic 4. Make your own fake tab bar and don’t bother with the built in ones. Ridiculous.
