How to use Github and Ionic

Hi!
I’m new to Github and Ionic, and want to backup my data.
Is there a easy step by step guide on how to backup my projects with Github? Which folders should be included? ( /www? /resources? Files? )
Entrie projectfolders are typical 80-150 mb so and it can’t be neccesary to backup all files?

You don’t need to worry about what folders to include, that’s set up already in the project.
