I just checked my installed version of ionic framework its beta 3 i want to upgrade to beta 8, i reinstalled using npm globally but i see no difference in version it remained the same beta 3, why is it happening.
Create new project, copy/past your code. Profit!

I would recommend you to check the linked post for a good explanation:
To clear things up, when you run sudo npm install -g ionic@beta you are installing the CLI (Command Line Interface) which lets you run the commands such as ionic start, ionic serve, etc. The Ionic CLI docs can be found here: http://ionicframework.com/docs/v2/cli/
So running ionic -v will give you the CLI version, not the framework version.
The framework version exists inside of the project, so you will not see a version number until you start a project. For example, here is my ionic info if I …

I had an app based on a much earlier beta ionic, I did the same and is much simpler than doing multiple upgrades following this https://github.com/driftyco/ionic/blob/2.0/CHANGELOG.md#ionicons-were-moved
