I have been developing Mobile apps in Ionic since v1. It was the very first framework I used for developing cross platform mobile apps. I really love working on Ionic. I also develop using React Native but whenever I have an option I always go for Ionic. I was using Cordova before and for more than a year now I am using Capacitor and I can’t say enough that how much I love working on it. Development is super fast even a lot of plugins like Camera can be tested in browser (which was not the case in Cordova).
Now my main concern is the lifetime of Ionic Framework. Few months back I started developing my own apps that I will launch soon. All 4 of them are developed in Ionic+Capacitor and I have not even thought of using any other technology. If I compare Ionic with other techs like React Native and Flutter…the primary drawback is that those techs are backed by giants and have a lot of support online…that doesn’t bother me a lot because Ionic makes things extremely simple to customize. The thing that bothers me is that it is very unlikely for React Native and Flutter to go out of business and both have captured the market very well. Ionic on the other hand is not used by many developers (I always wonder why)…and it gives me trouble thinking that what if Ionic becomes unavailable after couple of years…I will have to re-develop all of my apps in other technology then.
I just want to know from the Ionic team that what are the future plans regarding the lifetime of Ionic Framework.
Sorry for the long post
