Best way to update plugins and cordova to newest version

When I have been doing builds (mostly on ios) I get warnings that some project is depended on another project version.

I felt maybe it was time to update plugins I guess cordova and so forth. I didn’t want to update to Ionic 4 yet.
What is the best way to go about updating each package?

And wasn’t sure if this is the best way?

For Ionic itself I built https://update.ionic.zone which you can use to update Ionic and its dependencies to a “known good” state.
