nd a chat app is entirely doable. There will, however, be minor updates and library/module name changes.

It does not work perfectly on ionic 3 on an ios device at all.

Have you built and run this on an iOS device? The chat issues are nothing to do with socket io, they are to do with, as described above the keyboard/ion-input interaction.
