Typescript global var not found

Hi everybody,

I am new with Ionic and I am trying to implement a google map integration with ionic 2 web sdk following this tutorial :

I am getting an error saying the google var is not found, I guess I have some configuration problems with Typescript or something. Here is my code :

import { Component, ViewChild, ElementRef } from '@angular/core';
import { NavController } from 'ionic-angular';

declare var google;

@Component({
  selector: 'home-page',
  templateUrl: 'home.html'
})
export class HomePage {

  @ViewChild('map') mapElement: ElementRef;
  map: any;

  constructor(public navCtrl: NavController) {

  }

  ionViewDidLoad(){
    this.loadMap();
  }

  loadMap(){

    let latLng = new google.maps.LatLng(-34.9290, 138.6010);

    let mapOptions = {
      center: latLng,
      zoom: 15,
      mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP
    }

    this.map = new google.maps.Map(this.mapElement.nativeElement, mapOptions);

  }
}

My config :

Cordova CLI: 6.5.0
Ionic Framework Version: 3.0.1
Ionic CLI Version: 2.2.2
Ionic App Lib Version: 2.2.1
Ionic App Scripts Version: 1.3.0
ios-deploy version: Not installed
ios-sim version: 5.0.13
OS: macOS Sierra
Node Version: v6.10.2
Xcode version: Xcode 8.3 Build version 8E162

cordova plugin list :
cordova-plugin-console 1.0.5 "Console"
cordova-plugin-device 1.1.4 "Device"
cordova-plugin-splashscreen 4.0.2 "Splashscreen"
cordova-plugin-statusbar 2.2.1 "StatusBar"
cordova-plugin-whitelist 1.3.1 "Whitelist"
ionic-plugin-keyboard 2.2.1 “Keyboard”

Are you sure that you added the google maps script to your src/index.html page?

yes I did, I have followed exactly the tutorial.

Try using the native google maps plugin here. I’m pretty sure it will work.
