I tried posting the link but could not figure out how to link the first item and not the last.

Html5 video ... playing a local .mp4 video on iOS

The final issue was indeed a relative path problem … once I stuck your working video files in the root next to the index they worked. Thanks for helping with your video code and your codec suggestions and the working video example you sent over … that helped me get this working so very much appreciated jar19! Now I just need to figure out why my mp4 codecs aren’t working but that shouldn’t be too much of a problem. If I get the ffmpeg command to do the video conversion I will post the code here…

What “site” are you referring to?

I was hoping Ionic might provide a test area - don’t think this forum is the best place as a lot of posts seems to be from users new to Ionic.
