ngCordova / Ionic - Capture audio without using external recorder?

Hi chaps,

the audio recorder which pops up with ngCordova is very intrusive…
is there any way to record audio directly within the app?

I’m using iOS, I don’t mind if there is a way to achieve this just on iOS.
