Footer bar on side nav no longer visible due to z-index change in beta 14

I use an ion-footer-bar within my ion-side-menu, but with beta 14 it is no longer visible. Digging into it I see that the z-index on the ion-content section is 10, but it is 9 on the footer. I would certainly prefer not to hack this so I thought you should know.

If this was on purpose, can I ask the reason?
