After looking at it a bit, i realised that Visual studio code was the problem. While the directory was open using it, any files i added to the assets were not completely added even though i could see them visibly in the folder within file explorer. I noticed that this was the problem when i realised vscode couldn’t see the icons in its directory viewer.
