I started programming at school back in 1976 in ICL BASIC with punched tape and then at University with punched cards in ALGOL, COBOL and FORTRAN. My first program for a PC was written in TRS-BASIC on a Tandy Model 1. Since those early days I have developed in numerous languages starting with IBM mainframes (COBOL, APL, BASIC) then ASSEMBLER for Z80 processors, teaching others with ACORN BASIC and then when databases started to appear for the PC, xBase languages such as dBASE II, Clipper and the Fox Software ranged of products (FoxBASE, FoxBASE+ and FoxPro).
When Microsoft bought Fox Software I continued with the Visual FoxPro version but also started to use VBA for Office, as well as the .NET languages; Visual Basic and C# and some SQL.
One of my VBA developments included working with XML and iXBRL.
Developing websites for clients gave me exposure to Javascript, CSS and HTML.
Over the past few years I decided to look at developing apps for mobile devices and hence my interest in Ionic. Having developed a golf app in v1 I am now using v2 and have begun looking at v3.
