Self-dismissing popup/alert

I would like to create a self-dismissive popup which shows for a second or two, showing some information (which is not too important if the user misses what the popup alerts the user to) and then fade away.

It would be good if this was a swipe-card which the user can dismiss by swiping it left/right if they would prefer not to see it; but the popup closing by itself is a must.

There’s a good example of this in the Docs

But I’m not sure that’s what you want. If you’re looking for a short piece of information to be displayed for a bit you probably want a Toast.
