.js, .json, .map files in VS Code

I know this has been discussed before but it seems to be back with a force.

All folder pages, providers etc are displaying these .js, .json, .map files.
I read that they should not appear, that they are loaded in memory.
I have seen suggestions to Hide these but it all seems very hacky.

There are cases where .js files Should be shown. I have seen suggestions to hide based on whether there is an accompanying .ts file. This also seems like a less than satisfactory solution.

Any suggestions as to conquering this problem?

As suggested in title, I am using VS Code, it might apply to others, not sure.
