Ionic 2: Subscribing to GoogleMap events throws "TypeError: this._next is not a function"

I have a side menu app where the homepage is a full view map which is created using the Ionic Native wrapper for the cordova-plugin-googlemaps. When I try to subscribe to events the following error gets thrown:

TypeError: this._next is not a function

An example of the code I’m using to subscribe to an event is:

this.mapObj.on(GoogleMapsEvent.CAMERA_CHANGE).subscribe(() => {
            console.log('Google native map camera change event...');
        });

The function that causes the error Ionic Native is:

Subscriber.prototype._next = function (value) {
        this.destination.next(value);
};

Note, this happens when subscribing to the map object events and also the marker object events. Not tried other things but I’m guessing the result will be the same.

My project info is:

Cordova CLI: 5.4.0
Gulp version: CLI version 3.8.11
Gulp local: Local version 3.9.1
Ionic Framework Version: 2.0.0-beta.10
Ionic CLI Version: 2.0.0-beta.25
Ionic App Lib Version: 2.0.0-beta.15
OS:
Node Version: v4.4.2
Ionic Native Version: 1.2.4

Does anybody know a fix for this?

Seems to be fixed since upgrading to beta 11
