How to manually edit how the ionic v1 launch screen resources work and feed images.xassets?

The launch screen image that is used for my app on iPhone X looks terrible.

How does ionic determine which image is used?

I have an image that is 2436px × 1125px that I want to use for the iPhone X launch screen because my app is landscape, but I am now sure how to edit the config.xml file to make it be the file that’s used for iPhone X for my app.

Any advice as to what I need to edit to make the following file be used for my app’s iPhone X launch screen would be appreciated.

resources/ios/splash/Default-Landscape-1125h.png

As you can see, I already placed it in the config.xml, but it doesn’t actually get used.

When Xcode runs the app in the simulator, some other launch screen image is being used and it cuts off the top part of the image so it looks real bad.

It looks like ionic is feeding the the Default@2x~universal~anyany.png launch screen file to both iPhone X and iPad Pro 9.7 and a few others.

I need to separate these out.

If I was using a plain vanilla Cordova project I could use Xcode’s images.assets set up, but with ionic v1 Cordova, every time I do ionic cordova build iOS, it overwrites the images.xassets folder with material from the resources directory.

I do not entirely understand what makes the resources directory feed the images.xassets resource.

Ultimately I need to use a different custom launch screen image for each device.

If anyone can provide some insight or maybe a link to detailed instructions somewhere that explains how to customize the launch screen images in ionic v1 that would be a big help.
