App Rejected by Google Play for YouTube Background Audio

Got this rejection & clarification from Google after submitting my app:

Dear Google Play Developer,

Thanks for contacting Google Play. Your appeal has been submitted successfully and will be reviewed by a specialist.

The ticket number for your appeal is referenced in the subject line of this message, and you should receive a response from us within 72 hours.

We ask that you do not send duplicate appeals as this will not reduce response time.

The Google Play Team

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Play Team.

During review, we found that your app (com.tv33mb.Tv33App) violates the Device and Network Abuse policy.

For example, your app enables background playing of YouTube videos (YouTube video continues to play after pressing power button and the screen is off), which is a violation of the YouTube API Terms of Service:

“Your API Client will not, and you will not encourage or create functionality for your users or other third parties to: (8) separate, isolate, or modify the audio or video components of any YouTube audiovisual content made available through the YouTube API;”

You’ll need to disable background play functionality of YouTube videos in your app before submitting it for another review. If you choose to submit your app again, you may want to review the Device and Network Abuse policy, the Developer Program Policies and YouTube Terms of Service for additional guidance.

I thought it might be due to the Cordova Background Audio plugin I used to fix the iPhone muting issue, but I cloned my project and removed all external plugins and it’s still happening. I’ll be honest, I have ZERO clue about how to compile this outside Creator…I went this route in order to put together a simple, quick directory app for my company. Is there anyone who can help me out here?

Is the criticism true?

Any updates about this?
