I took the route of setting up a project using the Angular CLI which installed latest Angular 20.0.0 set of packages. I then added the ionic angular package which is 8.6.0. There were problems running ionic serve as the project name could not be recognized so I had to add --project= which overcame that but when I tried to run ionic generate and picked page it compained about path and name and I could not use that tool. Is there a compatibilty issue with these versions?

Angular 20 is not yet supported. See [App Development Support Policy - Ionic Framework API](https://ionicframework.com/docs/reference/support#core-dependencies)

I’m looking to upgrade my app from Angular 18 to 20 and was wondering what problems I might encounter. I found this thread. According to @twestrick’s link above, Angular 20 is supported now so you might want to give it another try.

I have been created standalone app with angular 20 and ionic 8 with publish on firebase.

To work as production, I used at application config: importProvidersFrom(IonicModule.forRoot({}))
